How to Backup Samsung Galaxy / Note to Computer

Mobile phones are filled with important files while can easily crashing onto floor and shattering. In order to recover data to your device in the future, such as contacts, photos, apps and videos, you need to perform a full backup on your computer. In this article we take Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 Plus/S7/S7 Edge/S6/S6 Edge/S5/Note 7/5, Galaxy A9/A7/A5, etc. (one of the world's more popular smartphone) as an example to guide you through backing up your device's data to PC.

We are using Android Backup Restore, Android Transfer and Phone Transfer here to simplify the procedure. They allow you to secure backups to your home computer and you can try them free for a trial period to see whether they suites your needs. I'm sure they won't fail you.

 

Part 1: Move Samsung Files to PC/Mac with Android Backup Restore

 

Step 1 Plug your Samsung Smartphone into PC/Mac
Click the button below to download and install the free trial version of Android Backup Restore, then connect your Samsung smartphone to PC/Mac via USB cable.

Step 2 Select Data Types You Want and Backup 
When the connection is done, you will be asked to choose data types you want to copy. Now, you can contacts, text messages, call history, photos, videos, audios, and even app data to backup. Tick the “Backup”  button to begin the process.

Note: As it is can be seen, there is a little blue icon for you to choose the data of application you want to copy. You may be asked to hit “Allow” on your Galaxy/Note before the transportation of app data.

It will take a few seconds to complete the backup. After it is done,  you can check the backup file in detail by ticking “View the Backup”.

Part 2: Transfer Galaxy/Note Files via Android Transfer

Step 1 Connect Samsung Galaxy/Note to Computer
Download and install the software on your computer. Plug Samsung phone to the computer via USB cable or connect it via Wi-Fi. When it's well connected, you will see the interface as below.

Step 2 Back Up Galaxy/Note Data to Computer
When it's connected, the software will scan the data stored in the phone. You can preview the data by selecting the items listed in the left column. Choose the content that you want to back up and hit the "Export" button. All the selected data will be saved in your computer in a little while.

Step 1 Connect Galaxy Note to PC
On your computer, open Phone Transfer. Connect your Galaxy Note via USB data cable, then from the homepage select or click on the Back Up Your Phone.

You can click the check boxes next to any categories you would like to save before click Start Copy.
